Abraham Lincoln: Important 1864 New Jersey "Flag Raising" Broadside.
Large 35" x 24" broadside announcing a "Grand Union Flag Raising! For Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson!". The stellar event took place on October 1, 1864. Though the exact location is not specified, we believe it was Newark, New Jersey. The broadside is titled "Liberty, Union and Justice!" Two distinguished speakers were scheduled to address the meeting where a band or glee club would serenade the attendees. It concludes with the stirring slogans "No Armistice! No Compromise with Traitors!" Lincoln lost New Jersey to McClellan, who then resided in Orange, NJ. He would later be elected governor of the state. The banner has been deacidified, cleaned and mounted to linen, with very minor restoration to some of the lettering. It displays in mint condition. This is truly an historic and significant campaign artifact of museum quality.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
